International Students
An international student is a deemed resident of Canada for tax purposes in any year that he/she stay in Canada for longer than 183 days. If there is no income other than scholarship and bursary, as a student there are benefits by filing a tax return. And if there is income, filing a tax return is mandatory requirement by CRA(Canada Revenue Agency).
Services for international students and their parents/guardians:
- Post-secondary students can receive tax credit payments and tuition credits by filing a tax return.
- Parents and legal guardians who live with International students under 18-years old are entitle to receive child benefits.
Services for international students and their parents/guardians:
- Obtain ITN (Individual Tax Number) for tax filing.
- File current and previous tax returns
- Make adjustments to previous year tax returns
